As no tax is incurred on the withdrawal, these gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction, but direct transfers may be counted towards your minimum required distribution. For over 140 years, planned gifts have enabled our alumni and friends to meet their financial goals while strengthening Hebrew Union College. There are many ways to maximize the value of your giving to Hebrew Union College through gift-planning arrangements:

  • Gifts through your will or retirement account provide flexibility and do not affect your current cash flow.
  • Gifts of real estate, personal property, and securities provide immediate tax benefits.
  • Gifts that pay you and/or another beneficiary income in return for your gift may allow you to make a more substantial gift than you thought possible and provide immediate tax benefits.
  • Retained life estate and charitable lead trusts can protect assets and significantly reduce tax liabilities.
