I am a spiritual counselor at Beit Teshuva, a residential addiction treatment center, congregation, and educational institute in Los Angeles that helps individuals battling addiction. I use Jewish texts as a basis for spiritual conversations to help my clients go through the steps of recovery. I’ve come to learn that you do not need to be an addict to be in recovery; the experience of doing step work is helpful for everyone dealing with the pains of life. And that’s something that can help us all right now!
Wisdom comes from all places and all walks of life. A lot of wisdom can be gained from hitting rock bottom. I find that everyone has unique stories to share from the way they’ve acquired wisdom, and that no one is beyond repair.
