Michelle Slocum

A business partner to the leadership and management and a resource in collaboration and decision making, Michelle supervises and manages the Finance & Accounting team, student billing, and financial aid. She leads the annual audit and annual budget process overseeing internal control, monthly close activity, and distribution of financial information to institutional partners. She participates in various Board and Committee meetings and supports various teams through positive engagement and financial strategic direction.

Prior to joining HUC-JIR in June 2015, Michelle served as Director of Finance and Human Resources at Joy Outdoor Education Center (Camp Joy) for almost 13 years, previously worked for several nonprofits, and has experience in finance, administration, hospitality, and construction. She has also served as Treasurer and Board Member for the various organizations and volunteered for local Chambers of Commerce, Community Arts Councils, and numerous community organizations.
