Alan Litwak

Rabbi Alan E. Litwak, elected October 25, 2015.

Rabbi Litwak has served as Senior Rabbi of Temple Sinai of North Dade in Miami, FL for 20 years, offering his expertise in teaching, pastoral counseling, social justice, youth work, organizational development, and camping. He is recognized as an engaging and dynamic educator, working with early childhood, teens, college students, and adults. He is highly regarded for his extensive work with young people in youth group, camp, classroom, and worship settings.

His rabbinate has been marked by speaking for Jewish issues at the local and state levels, interfaith work, and service as a board member for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Services, Jewish Community Relations Council, and several community-based advocacy organizations. He has also written for national publications of the Reform Movement, and Torah Aura publishers.

Rabbi Litwak was born and raised in Northern California and is a product of the Reform Movement. Following his ordination from HUC-JIR in 1996, he served for six years as a Rabbi at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany, New York. During his years in rabbinical school at HUC-JIR, he served congregations in both Southern and Northern California, Long Island, and New York City. He received his B.A. in Religious Studies and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
