Michael J. Halpern is the Founder and President of Westmore Capital Advisors, LLC, an investment firm focused on early stage/growth capital companies as well as investments in more established companies undergoing substantial transformation. From 2001-2014 he was the Co-Managing Member and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Dorchester Capital Advisors LLC, an investment manager focused on investments in hedge funds as well as in illiquid secondary hedge fund limited partnership interests. He served as an advisor to the firm in 2015.
Prior to his co-founding Dorchester Capital Advisors, he was President and Chief Investment Officer of Dorchester Advisors, Inc., a long/short equity hedge fund. Previously he was Vice President at Castle & Cooke, Inc. focused on Mergers and Acquisitions for the company and a Vice President at Pacific Holding Company, David Murdock’s private investment company, focused on investing in undervalued publicly traded companies as well serving as an in-house corporate finance and Mergers and Acquisitions advisor. He began his career as a Financial Analyst in Mergers and Acquisitions at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 1983.
Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. He majored in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
Michael serves on the Board of Directors of R.L. Winston Rod Co., the Board of Governors of Hebrew Union College, the Board of Overseers of the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania and the Investment Committee of the Skirball Cultural Center. He is a former Board Member of P.S. Arts and a former Trustee of Wilshire Boulevard Temple.
Michael lives in Santa Monica, California with his wife, Nancy. Nancy is a practicing physician who is Board Certified in Adolescent Medicine. Their daughter, Margot, is a 2016 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and lives in New York. Their son, Jesse, is a 2020 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Santa Monica.
