Rabbi Daniel Kirzane, Associate Rabbi of Oak Park Temple in Oak Park, IL, was inducted to the Board of Governors of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion at its meeting on June 26, 2022. Rabbi Kirzane serves as Chair of HUC-JIR’s Alumni Leadership Council, representing over 4,000 active alumni of the seminary and institution of Jewish higher education of the Reform Movement.
Ordained by HUC-JIR in 2014, he has previously served The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah in Overland Park, KS, and Congregation Beth Haverim Shir Shalom, in Mahwah, NJ.
HUC-JIR President Andrew Rehfeld, Ph.D., stated, “Rabbi Kirzane is a distinguished builder of Jewish community and devoted alum of the College-Institute. He is deeply committed to sustaining the ongoing engagement of our alumni as supporters of our mission. As Chair of the Alumni Leadership Council, he will provide essential guidance to the Board of Governors to strengthen our work in planning for the future.”

Alumni leadership is vital to the vision of the College-Institute, and I look forward to continuing the work of my predecessors in advancing the impact of our colleagues in North America, Israel, and around the world.”
Rabbi Kirzane is a member of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship Coordinating Committee and the HUC-JIR Rabbinical School Alumni Council and Alumni Leadership Council. He is also an active member of T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights. Rabbi Kirzane sustains an active interest in scholarship, education, and community-building.
