Faculty and guest scholars will honor Rabbi David Ellenson's retirement with a symposium moderated by Rabbi Michael Marmur, Ph.D., Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Provost.  The program at 8 pm will be preceded with a reception at 7:30 pm, and is open to the general public. 

Speakers will include:

Rabbi Professor David Golinkin, President of the Schechter Institute: "Rabbi Ellenson's contribution to the scholarship of Halakhah"

Professor Zvi Zohar, Law Faculty, BarIlanUniversity: "Rabbi Ellenson’s contribution to the historical-cultural context of 'ger' (convert) and thoughts about the 'ger' in the current Israeli reality"

Rabbi Prof. Dalia Marx, HUC-JIR/Jerusalem:  "The view of 'the other' in the liturgy: the case of the Prayer for Peace for the State of Israel"

Rabbi Prof. Yehoyada Amir, HUC-JIR/Jerusalem: "Modernity ’s challanges to Jewish Thought"
