As Simchat Torah brings the Torah-reading cycle to a close and begins anew, Rabbi Medwed reflects on Hillel’s enduring teaching to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Against the backdrop of October 7 and the ongoing trauma experienced by so many, she considers how Torah can offer a guiding light for finding love, ethical humanity, and hope amid grief and uncertainty.
