The Jerusalem Post has published a wide-ranging profile of Nachman Shai, Ph.D., Dean of the Taube Family Campus in Jerusalem, putting a spotlight on the lifelong public servant and scholar, whose career has focused on connecting communities within and beyond Israel in support of the global Jewish community.

Describing Shai as “a personification of diversity,” the paper cited his experience in journalism, military, management, diplomatic, political, and educational positions over the years.

“Without the slightest sign of false modesty,” the reporters noted, Shai paid tribute to Hebrew Union College President Andrew Rehfeld, Ph.D.: “He is the one who made the brave decision to hire me and bring me into the HUC-JIR system,” Shai said, discussing his current work to strengthen the connections between Jews in Israel and around the world, while advancing the education of Reform Judaism leaders to serve communities in the Jewish state.

“The Reform Movement needs more recognition in Israel,” he said.
