Thursday, January 5, 2023

We are thrilled to share that Jason Rose began his new role as Director of Alumni Engagement at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR).

Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and working in collaboration with colleagues across North America and Israel, Rose will design and execute a comprehensive strategy for alumni engagement to deepen relationships with, and among the members of the diverse community of HUC-JIR alumni. As a member of the senior Institutional Advancement team, he will work closely with the President, Provost, Deans, faculty, and other stakeholders to connect with alumni across North America and globally.

Rose joins HUC-JIR after serving as a Principal Gifts Officer at Greater Twin Cities United Way in Minneapolis for nearly five years. Prior to his role there, he was the Associate Executive Director, Midwest at the Jewish National Fund-USA, directing all aspects of annual fundraising and alumni engagement to support international programs for people with special needs, rural development and housing, and education. He also worked as the Director of Development of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, and as Director of Allocations for the Minneapolis Jewish Federation. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, he worked in financial services.

Rose shares, “I am excited to help build deep relationships with alumni across the country, deliver more HUC-JIR resources to the schools, synagogues, communities, college campuses, and other global institutions which our alumni lead, and to increase brand awareness of the College.”

Rabbi Daniel Kirzane ‘14, Chair of HUC-JIR’s Alumni Leadership Council, says “Our alumni shape the progressive Jewish landscape, and alumni engagement is critical to the fulfillment of HUC-JIR’s mission to enrich the world through Jewish leadership. Jason is an experienced sensitive connector who will bring alumni from all of our programs into closer partnership with one another and with the College-Institute. I couldn’t be happier to embark upon this exciting journey with such an accomplished and creative partner.”

While working on his bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Kansas, Rose also spent a semester studying military and politics and comparative government at Tel Aviv University. He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.

Rose lives in Minneapolis with his family. He currently serves on various community boards, including as Investment Committee Chair of the Adath Jeshuran Foundation; Member of the Overseas Allocation Committee of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation; Community Campaign Chair of the Jewish National Fund-Minnesota; Fellow of the Harry Kay Leadership Institute (a program of the Minneapolis and St. Paul Jewish Federations); and Fundraising Committee Chair of St. Louis Park Public Schools and Community Foundation.
