The accounts of sexual misconduct, harassment, and abuse in the URJ report released today filled us with a profound sense of sadness. We share the URJ’s appreciation for the survivors who had the courage to come forward and share their experiences, despite the pain it surely caused.
Retrospective examination is an essential step in the teshuvah process, providing a path to institutional accountability for the past, and prevention in the present and future. With the investigative efforts of HUC-JIR, CCAR, and URJ now complete, each Reform movement partner is working actively through a process of teshuvah and to ensure we are building safe, respectful, and equitable communities.
