Five DMV locals are beginning their journey at Hebrew Union College as part of the largest rabbinical cohort in more than a decade.
Meet Becca Carin, Lily Ginsberg, Reed Leventis, Ellen Oshinsky, and Ethan Solomon, five students recently featured in Washington Jewish Week, whose journeys have been shaped by inspirational mentors, role models, and communities:
- Becca Carin draws inspiration from the Jewish professionals she met through her work in the Hillel movement.
- Reed Leventis looks to the clergy team at Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase as role models.
- A lifelong member of Washington Hebrew Congregation, Ellen Oshinsky credits the congregation’s clergy, along with Rabbis Esther Lederman ’08 and Ilana Zietman, for their influence.
- For Ethan Solomon, who converted to Judaism, Rabbi Lizz Goldstein of Congregation Ner Shalom inspired him through her ability to bridge ideological divides and build a united community.
