Research with Human Subjects

HUC-JIR does not have its own Institutional Review Board (IRB) but uses the University of Southern California (USC) Human Research Protection Program as its IRB of record. Therefore, HUC-JIR Faculty members who conduct research with living human subjects are expected to seek approval from USC’s IRB. This is a time-consuming process of multiple months, which begins with a Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) module. More information can be found here.
