Scott Stein is a Brooklyn-based pianist, songwriter, composer, and music director. He is a native of Akron, OH and holds a B.M. in Composition from The Ohio State University. In addition to his work for the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, he also serves on the faculty of the H.L. Miller Cantorial School at the Jewish Theological Seminary. As a multi-faceted collaborator, music director, sideman, and accompanist, Scott has been at the helm of several off-Broadway and independent musicals and has shared the stage with Broadway diva Rachel York, American Idol star Constantine Maroulis, and Rock N Roll Hall-of-Famer Levon Helm. Scott is currently the conductor of Shir Chadash: The Brooklyn Jewish Community Chorus and for 12 seasons he conducted the Manhattan chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Chorus. He is also a touring and performing singer/songwriter whose songs have been compared to those of Bruce Hornsby, Elton John, and Paul Westerberg. Scott’s latest album Uphill will be released in the summer of 2022.
