Rabbi Rachel Maimin (she/her) serves as Teshuvah Director and Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions, and can be found on the New York Campus. Rachel spent her childhood in Lenox, Massachusetts and studied at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and French. In 2013, she was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.

Rachel served as a congregational rabbi from 2013-2022, as Assistant Rabbi at Isaac M. Wise Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio, Associate Rabbi at North Shore Synagogue in Syosset, NY, and Associate Rabbi at Temple Isaiah in Lexington, MA. She is honored to be an alumna of the Bonnie and Daniel Tisch Rabbinical Fellowship.

Rachel joined the HUC-JIR staff in 2023. As Teshuvah Director, she is working to implement a meaningful Teshuvah process, guided by the recommendations of the Teshuvah Working Group. As part of the Office of Recruitment and Admissions, Rachel works closely with the rabbinic program, and loves speaking with folks exploring the next steps in their Jewish leadership journey. Rachel lives in Brooklyn with her partner, and is a movie, tv, and theater lover, avid reader, foodie, and tennis fan.
