Rabbi Madeleine Fortney (she/her) serves as the lead recruiter for Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management and Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, and can be found on the New York Campus. Madeleine grew up in Northern Virginia and studied at Drexel University, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with minors in Jewish Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies. She was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York in 2025.

During her time as a student at HUC-JIR, Madeleine served as rabbinic intern at Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester in Chappaqua, NY and as student rabbi at Kolot Chayeinu in Brooklyn, NY. Madeleine also earned her Certificate in Jewish Organizational Leadership from the Zelikow School. Madeleine lives in Brooklyn with her partner and their cats, is an avid reader, and loves spending time outdoors.
