Karen Pearlman is the Social Media and Digital Content Manager at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. As part of her role within the National Office of Communications and Public Affairs, Karen manages HUC’s national Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Vimeo channels. She joined HUC-JIR in March 2021 after serving as the Director of Young Adult Engagement and Community Collaboration at the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.

Karen is originally from the Boston area and studied Journalism and Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After graduating, she worked at Clark University Hillel as the IACT Israel Programs Coordinator. Karen’s passion for the Jewish nonprofit sector led her to earn her master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. While a student in Israel, Karen co-founded the Lilmod language exchange program which brought together English and Hebrew speakers and was acquired by Nefesh B’Nefesh. Upon completion of her degree and time abroad, Karen lived and worked in Pittsburgh. She is now based in Toledo, OH.
