Mitchell Shames

Mitchell Shames, elected February 11, 2019.

Shames is Managing Director and founder of Harrison Fiduciary Group, a firm providing fiduciary services with respect to qualified retirement plans. Previously he was an Executive Vice-President of State Street Corporation, where he was General Counsel of its investment management affiliate, State Street Global Advisors. Early in his career he was as a tax associate at the Boston law firms; Sherburne, Powers and Needham; and, Goulston & Storrs.

Currently, Shames also serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, and is a member of Central Synagogue, Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, and Temple Israel of Boston where he served on its Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.

He was President of the Jewish Outreach Institute, President of Hillel Council of Greater Boston, served on both the Board and Executive Committee of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and was a member of the Young Leadership Cabinet of UJA.

Shames received an A.B. from the University of Chicago in 1979, a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1983, and an LLM. in taxation from New York University in 1984.
