Dr. Dave Mendelsson, Director
Overall responsibility for the Year-In-Israel program. This includes the curriculum, the hiring of faculty and staff, working with the college administration both here and overseas; dealing with issues of fundraising, budget, and coordination with the Israeli rabbinic program. Responsible for maintaining the academic standards of the program, the academic success of our students and their standing at the college-insitute. In addition, teach the Israel Seminar and a course of the History of the Zionist movement.
Rabbi Joshua Herman, Rabbi of Year-In-Israel Program
Responsible for professional development, pastoral care, and support and advising for student-led worship services and sermons. In addition, he teaches courses on the calendar, synagogue skills, and helps to coordinate holiday celebrations and other observances on campus.
Nancy Lewitt, Head of Student Life
Supervision and responsibility for many of the non-academic components of the YII program. This includes student health and welfare, community building, a wide range of extra curricula activities organized by the administration and/or students, I-Involve (Israel Involvement) projects, support and mentoring students.
Helen Linden, Administrative Assistant
Responsible for many of the administrative components of the YII program, including assistance with apartment rentals, health insurance, visa applications and your registration at HUC-JIR on as well as ongoing academic administration throughout the year.
