Recital presented by SSM students and the Collegium Musicum of New York University

This recital will feature the earliest notated examples of Jewish liturgical music, including melodies found in 18th century manuscripts, choral music, and cantorial recitatives. Music employing the unique style of the meshorerim, a boy soprano and bass musical assistants, will also be demonstrated.

This concert will feature choral works from The Birnbaum Collection, including compositions and arrangements by Eduard Birnbaum, and the premiere of new works by composers Jack Gottlieb, Stephen Richards, Benjie Ellen Schiller, Eliyahu Schleifer, William Sharlin, Bonia Shur and Ben Steinberg, performed by SSM students and alumni with Joyce Rosenzweig, pianist.
