No, we're not talking about the movies. The Jewish Book Council (JBC) and the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) have both just announced their book awards.

The Jewish Book Council oversees several awards. The National Jewish Book Awards are given in 18 categories including: Book of the Year, American Jewish Studies, Education and Jewish Identity, Best Debut Fiction, Women's Studies, Writing based on Archival Material, and many more. The JBC also awards the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature and the Natan Book Award.

The winners and finalists for the National Jewish Book Awards, the Sami Rohr Prize, and the Natan Book Award are all listed on the JBC site.

The Association of Jewish Libraries also awards excellence in Jewish literature. The Sydney Taylor Book Award focuses on children's literature for early, older, and teen readers. The Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award recogizes the work of unpublished manuscripts for readers aged 8-13.

Many of these award winning books can be found in the HUC library system. Happy reading!
