The Rt. Rev. Thomas E. Breidenthal, Bishop of Southern Ohio (Episcopal), brings a passion for civic involvement, strong lay leadership and ministry and Biblical preaching. A noted author, he has written about the issues of same-sex unions, what constitutes a Christian household and how to raise ethical children. His books include Sacred Unions: A New Guide to Life-Long Commitment, published in 2006, and Christian Households: The Sanctification of Nearness, published in 1997.
He brings a strong intellectual and academic background to the diocese. He was an Episcopal Church Foundation Fellow in Oxford, England where he received his doctorate. He has served as the dean of Religious Life and of the Chapel at Princeton University, and as the John Henry Hobart Professor of Christian Ethics and Moral Theology at General Theological Seminary in New York City. A strong believer that it is in our connections to each other that we find wholeness, he has tirelessly preached and taught the need for us to seek strong connections, understanding and dialogue across the entire socioeconomic and religious spectrum
