TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5 @ 12:40 pm in Mayerson Hall Auditorium
PSGS LUNCH AND LEARN WITH EMEK SHAVEH
Emek Shaveh is an Israeli NGO working to prevent the politicization of archaeology in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Talya Ezrahi and Yonatan Mizrahi will discuss the ethos of Emek Shaveh and some of their current work to de-politicize sites of cultural heritage in Israel. Additionally, they will discuss how the presentation of these sites in scholarly literature has ramifications in modern politics. There will also be time for Q & A in which students can discuss and investigate their ethical obligations as they use archaeological data in their own scholarly work. Participants are invited to bring their own lunch, but some desserts and snacks will be provided.
