 Francine Lis Appointed Assistant Director of Development and Public Affairs, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Western Region Francine Lis has been appointed Assistant Director of Development and Public Affairs, Western Region at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. Lis brings a wealth of knowledge from her twenty years experience in nonprofit management and philanthropy. Prior to joining HUC-JIR, she headed a consulting firm specializing in nonprofit and foundation management with clients that included the Jewish Community Foundation, Shalom Institute Camp and Conference Center, Southern California Edison, San Diego Grantmakers, Optimist Youth Home and Family Services, Inner-City Arts and more. Francine was recently awarded a certificate from Boston College in Corporate Community Involvement. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in History from UCLA, Lis began her career as Southwest Regional Coordinator for the American Zionist Youth Foundation and went on to serve in a variety of capacities during her thirteen-year tenure at the Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance, including Assistant Director of Education and Program Director, Tools for Tolerance for Educators. Her creativity as the Director, Member Services for the Southern California Association for Philanthropy, a professional association of private grantmakers, resulted in a more active and engaged philanthropic community in Southern California. Lis was recently a team captain for the Palisades Relay for Life, American Cancer Society and is a past board member of Valley Cities Jewish Community Center, Women's American ORT, National Philanthropy Day and Museum Educators of Southern California. She also brings to the College-Institute her close relationships with hundreds of foundation and nonprofit leaders in Southern California.
