 Rabbi Dalia Marx of HUC-JIR/Jerusalem and Dr. Samuel K. Joseph of HUC-JIR/Cincinnati Appointed as Walter Jacob Jubilee Fellows at Abraham Geiger College, Germany's Rabbinical Seminary The Abraham Geiger College at the University of Potsdam is pleased to announce that Rabbi Dalia Marx of HUC-JIR/Jerusalem, together with her husband Roly Zylberstein, will be the 2005 Walter Jacob Jubilee Fellow at Abraham Geiger College, Germany's rabbinical seminary. Rabbi Marx, a CCAR member, will teach Jewish texts in April and May 2005. She and her husband will be accompanied by their children, Noam, Tom and Niv. Dr. Samuel K. Joseph of HUC-JIR/Cincinnati has been appointed the 2006 Walter Jacob Jubilee Fellow at the rabbinical seminary. Professor Joseph was ordained in 1976 and is a member of the CCAR. He will teach Jewish Education and Leadership Development for a period of 4 weeks at Abraham Geiger College. Professor Joseph will be accompanied by his wife, Dori. "I am thrilled and honored at the prospect of teaching at Abraham Geiger College," says Rabbi Joseph. "It is difficult to put into words what it means to me to be able to teach European rabbinical students. It also means going back to my roots. My family is German on both sides coming to the U.S. in the early and mid 1800's. Both Dori and I speak German." The President, Faculty and students of the Geiger College are thrilled to welcome Rabbis Marx and Joseph with their families. Abraham Geiger College was founded in 1999 as the first rabbinical seminary of Germany after the Shoah. It took up the tradition of the Berlin Hochschule fuer die Wissenschaft des Judentums, an initiative of Rabbi Abraham Geiger, which was closed by the Nazis in 1942. www.abraham-geiger-kolleg.de |
