Job Opening: Project Director
Hebrew Union College-Institute of Jewish Religion and The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America seek a Project Director for a three year joint project:
The Leadership Institute for Congregational School Principals. Funded by a grant
from the UJA-Federation of Greater New York, the HUC-JIR School of Education
and the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education at JTS will partner
to create a professional growth program for synagogue school leaders to develop
their skills and habits of mind in leadership, pedagogy, and Judaica.
JTS and HUC-JIR are conducting a national search for a talented and highly
motivated Project Director. Qualifications for this position include an M.A.
in Jewish Education or Judaic Studies and 7-10 years of experience as a synagogue
school principal or director. Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
(1) success as a peer leader, teacher trainer, and program manager; (2) understanding
of diverse Movement ideologies; (3) familiarity with congregational schools
in the New York Metropolitan region and (4) ability to analyze the needs of
the field and develop a new, inter-denominational program accordingly.
The Project Director will have overall responsibility for managing the Institute's
professional development program, including interface with all partners; marketing
and public relations; and management of grant funds. S/he will oversee the interviewing
and selection of the participants, coordinate daily operations, ensuring that
all project activities are conducted in accordance with the conditions of the
grant, agreement and internal policies of the grantees. In addition, s/he will
supervise the Program Associate and integrate the activities of project mentors
and training consultants with project staff.
The Project Director will be responsible for hiring a qualified Program Associate
to manage all program activities, including planning, logistics, communications,
and documentation.
