A Message from HUC-JIR/Jerusalem - January 29, 2004
Dear Friends,
A sunny Jerusalem morning was shattered today by the terrible news of a bus
bombing, occurring in the neighborhood where many of our HUC students live.
Although most students were enjoying their break by traveling in Israel or abroad,
other students awoke to the sounds of ambulances.
Within a very short time of the incident, we contacted all our students, who
are all well and safe. We gathered at HUC this afternoon to pray for those who
have so tragically lost their loved ones and to comfort each other.
On Sunday, we will begin our second semester and continue our task of teaching
and learning. As always, safety continues to be a top priority. We hope and
pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all Israel.
Warm wishes for a Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Naamah Kelman
