Thesis and Dissertation Writing Workshop

Dr. Annalisa Azzoni, associate research scholar for the Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon Project at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and Dr. Hélène Dallaire, director of Hebrew language instruction at HUC-JIR, will present “Practical Tips for Writing and Completing a Rabbinic Thesis and a Doctoral Dissertation” at the next teaching seminar. Free of charge and open to the public, this seminar will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2003 at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Mayerson Hall Auditorium, 3101 Clifton Avenue. Free off-street parking is available.

A native French-Canadian, Dr. Dallaire studied Semitic languages and taught Biblical Hebrew at the Jerusalem University College (formerly the Institute for Holy Land Studies), and studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ordained with the Full Gospel Fellowship of Canada, she served 10 years as assistant-pastor in Vancouver, BC and Burlington, ON. Her specialties are Northwest Semitic languages, tutorial program development, and training for teaching assistants and private tutors.

Dr. Azzoni has been working at The Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon Project since the year 2000. As an undergraduate, she was a student of Classical Literatures at the Università degli Studi “Statale” of Milan (Italy). After working as a research assistant at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she moved to Baltimore to complete her Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Hebrew Bible/ Northwest Semitic languages. She has taught classes in Hebrew, Aramaic, Akkadian, and Women’s Ancient History both in the US and abroad.
