Susan Milamed Appointed Assistant Vice President for Development
Rabbi David Ellenson, President of HUC-JIR, announced that Susan Milamed, HUC-JIR
National Director for Institutional Giving, has been named Assistant Vice President
for Development.
For the next two years, Susan’s primary responsibility will be to manage
HUC-JIR’s $135 million comprehensive capital campaign, which is raising
vital annual, programmatic, and endowment funds for the College-Institute. In
this capacity, Susan will be working closely with me, Erica Frederick, Vice
President for Development, and our deans, school directors, and regional development
directors and officers, as well as with our volunteer leadership.
In addition to her six years directing the College-Institute’s fund raising
from foundations, federations, and other institutions, Susan brings to her new
role at HUC-JIR more than 10 years of experience directing development for non-profit
organizations in New York and in Israel. She holds an M.A. in Linguistics from
Columbia, where she specialized in Yiddish language and folklore, and an A.B.
in Religion from Boston University. She lived in Israel for two years where
she both studied and worked professionally.
