Reform Movement to Sponsor Retreat Weekend
January 8-10, 1999

For one special weekend in January a unique community of men and women will gather at Temple Beth Am in Miami for the Reform movement's Winter Spirituality and Study Retreat, which is open to those interested in an informal but stimulating study and worship experience.

The retreat, sponsored by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, will begin with Shabbat dinner on Friday, January 8 and continue through lunch on Sunday, January 10. The weekend will include text study, daily and Shabbat worship, intellectually stimulating study and serious reflection on life's crucialquestions, as well as the opportunity to make and renew friendships.

The faculty and staff for the weekend are comprised of distinguished scholars, rabbis and teachers, including: Rabbi Lawrence Raphael (Director, Department of Adult Jewish Growth, UAHC); Mr. Richard Abrams, R.J.E.(Assistant Director, Department of Adult Jewish Growth, UAHC); Ms. Merri Arian (Lecturer on Music Education and Conducting, HUC-JIR, New York); and Rabbi David Nelson (Senior Teaching Fellow, CLAL, New York).

The cost of the weekend is $180, including all meals and study materials. For those who wish to attend on Saturday only, the cost is $90, including lunch and dinner.

Out-of-town participants should make arrangements directly with the Holiday Inn at University of Miami (305) 667-5611, ext 7411, or the Dadeland Marriott (305) 670-1035, where special rates apply.
