Rabbi Leon Morris, recently ordained in New York, has been appointed Director of New York Kollel beginning July 1, 1997. A 1990 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Religious Studies, he has also studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Machon Pardes in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Morris has spent extensive time in India, where he served as the student rabbi for the Jewish Religious Union in Bombay, India and as Overseas Educator for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee in Bombay, India. He conducted services, coordinated formal and informal Jewish educational programs for youth and adults in the Bene Israel community in Bombay and surrounding environs, taught in the Jewish high schools, planned educational camping retreats, developed the leadership training seminar, and established the first free Jewish library in India. Rabbi Morris most recently served as the student rabbi at Congregation Har Tikvah, Brampton, Ontario.
