Rabbi Marder has served on the board of the College-Institute's Wexner Rabbinic Residencies Program, now funded by the Rabbinic Alumni Association. He takes particular pleasure in his work as chair of L.A. campus admissions committees, student advisement, the development of co-curricular programs and supervision of rabbinic fieldwork. Since the early 1980s Rabbi Marder has taught the topic of prayer in the hospital to HUC-JIR rabbinic students. He has brought to his rabbinate extensive social service experience in the area of aging and service to the institutionalized elderly. Rabbi Marder's special areas of Judaic interest are liturgy and Biblical poetry. He is married to Rabbi Janet Ross Marder, director of the Pacific Southwest Council of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. They have two daughters, Betsy and Rachel.
