Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is proud to announce the education, Jewish communal service, graduate, and honorary degree recipients of the Class of 2001. HUC-JIR, the nation's oldest institution of higher Jewish education and the academic, spiritual, and professional development center of Reform Judaism, trains men and women for service to American and world Jewry as rabbis, cantors, educators, and communal service professionals, and offers graduate and post-graduate degree programs for scholars of all faiths.
Graduation – May 14, 2001
Rabbinical School
Nine students (4 men, 5 women) will receive the Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters, leading to rabbinical ordination.
Three students (2 men, 1 woman) completed their rabbinical studies in Los Angeles and will be ordained in New York on May 20.
The Rhea Hirsch School of Education
Three students (1 man, 2 women) will receive the Joint Masters of Arts in Jewish Communal Service and Jewish Education. Eleven students (3 men, 8 women) will receive the degree of Master of Arts in Jewish Education.
The Irwin Daniels School of Jewish Communal Service
Five students (all women) will receive the Master of Arts in Jewish Communal Service.
