Important News for Our Donors and Friends
The IRA Charitable Rollover Provision has been extended thanks to the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 signed on January 2nd. If you act now you can make a tax-free donation that will benefit your 2012 filing.
Qualified distributions from traditional or Roth IRAs made after December 31, 2012 and before February 1, 2013 will be treated as if made on December 31, 2012 if you meet the requirements below:
-
You are over the age of 70 ½.
-
Your total IRA charitable gifts do not exceed $100,000.
-
You receive no economic benefit from the charity in exchange for the gift.
A gift from your IRA could provide vitally-needed support for our Annual Fund, facilitate your participation in our capital campaign, The Campaign: Assuring Your Jewish Future, or reduce your balance on an earlier pledge of support.
To take advantage of this provision, contact your IRA administrator and provide the following information:
-
Gift amount and purpose
-
Payable to Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion
-
Tax identification number 31-0537067
-
Mail to Dr. Jane F. Karlin, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, Brookdale Campus, One West Fourth Street, New York, NY 10012
For further information, contact Jane Karlin at 212-824-2212 or jkarlin@huc.edu.
Remember, you must act before February 1, 2013.
Thank you for helping us to further a vibrant Jewish future and the continuity of the Judaism that you cherish.
Note: Before finalizing any charitable or financial plan we encourage you to seek the counsel of your legal, tax or financial advisor.
