John M. Stein was inducted onto the Board of Governors of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion at its meeting on June 25, 2012 in New York.

Stein is President and a founder of FSI Group LLC, Elbrook Holdings, LLC and Trapeza Capital Management, LLC, a group of Registered Investment Advisors with $4 billion of assets under management. From 2007 through 2008, he was Executive Chairman of FSI Realty Trust.
He has been a director several public companies, including Great Florida Bank, based in Miami, Florida (2005 - 2010), Civitas BankGroup, Inc., of Franklin, Tennessee (2005 - 2007), and Superior Financial Corp, of Fort Smith, Arkansas (1998- 2003), as well as several private financial services companies.
Prior to founding FSI, he served as Vice President and Manager of the Market Risk Analytics Group of Bankers Trust Company (1993-1995). Prior to joining Bankers Trust, he was a commercial and investment banking consultant in the Financial Services Strategy Practice of The MAC Group/Gemini Consulting.
He has been on the National Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) since 2008, and serves on its Budget Committee, Regional Office Committee, and Contemporary Jewish Life Steering Committee. He is currently President of the AJC Cincinnati Regional Office. He is Vice President of the Board of the Mayerson JCC in Cincinnati, and has been on its Board since 2005. He is a member of the Joint Investment Committee of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. He is also active in AIPAC and is member of the Policy Circle of the Rand Corporation.
He received a B.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago in 1988 and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1997.
He and wife Jennifer live in Cincinnati with their three children. They are members of Wise Temple, in Cincinnati.
