Rabbi David Ellenson, Ph.D., President of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR), announced that he will present the Citation in Recognition to Madelyn Mishkin Katz, RJE, Director of Student Life at HUC-JIR/LA. The degree will be granted at HUC-JIR’s Los Angeles Graduation Ceremony on Monday, May 18, 2009 at HUC-JIR/LA, 3077 University Avenue in Los Angeles.
Rabbi Ellenson said, “As Director of Student Life for a decade, Madelyn Mishkin Katz has given of her gifts of heart and soul to the students and faculty of the Los Angeles Campus of HUC-JIR. Her devotion to her alma mater has been manifested as the immediate past chair of the Rhea Hirsch School of Education Alumni Association.”
Katz, RHSOE '84, is the HUC-JIR faculty representative to the Inter Seminary Retreat, an interfaith dialogue program, and a board member of the Education Consortium of Central Los Angeles.
