Tuesday, December 2, 2008

The HUC-JIR Council of Alumni Associations met for two days at the New York campus on November 18-19, 2008. The Council discussed alumni affairs, recruitment, and alumni communications. Council members met with HUC-JIR Board Chair Barbara Friedman and HUC-JIR President Rabbi David Ellenson, Ph.D.

The Council of Alumni Associations of HUC-JIR fosters a mutually supportive and collaborative relationship between the College-Institute and its alumni by providing a voice for alumni, a link between alumni and the College-Institute, and support to each of the Alumni Associations. The Council is made up of representatives from the College-Institute’s rabbinical, cantorial, education, communal service, and graduate alumni associations.  The Council serves as a conduit for the College-Institute to alumni in their roles as ambassadors for the College-Institute to the Reform community and the broader Jewish community and assists the College-Institute in recruitment and development.
