Tad Taube, Bonnie Tisch, and Rabbi Aaron Panken

Tad Taube, Bonnie Tisch, and Rabbi Aaron Panken

It is a great pleasure for me to greet you on this historic occasion on behalf of Andy Berger, our Chair, and the Board of Governors of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

We Governors all share a proud and passionate commitment to the State of Israel.  We are all dedicated to supporting the College’s vital mission: preparing Jewish leaders in North America and Israel who will inspire the next generations of engaged and proud Jews.

Our beautiful Jerusalem campus is unique.  It is here that all of our Israeli and North American students in all of our programs have the opportunity to study, worship, sing, and dream together.  This is the place where each of them comes to know, in great depth, the Jewish homeland. This is the place where our future rabbis, cantors, and educators, join together to create a new vision for Jewish living and learning.  This is the place where their Hebrew skills grow, where they learn the beauty of their inherited Jewish tradition, where they meet the rest of the Jewish people, and where they breathe the air of a thousand generations of their forebears.

Each of the lessons they learn here, they bring with them wherever they go in the world, and in all that that do. Their impact can be felt worldwide, in synagogues and on college campuses, at Jewish schools and camps, in Federations, and beyond.

We thank Tad Taube and the Taube Family for their wonderful support that will help us complete and beautify this amazing campus, but, even more so, for helping us build our Jewish people. Tad, we share your vision for a bright Jewish future.  Together, we will go forward!
