Dr. Ruhama Weiss has been promoted to Parallel Associate Professor of Talmud and Spiritual Care at the Jerusalem campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). Dr. Weiss is also a poet and serves as Director of the Blaustein Center for Pastoral Counseling at HUC-JIR/Jerusalem.

Rabbi Michael Marmur, Ph.D., Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Provost, stated, "It is a testament to the wide range of Dr. Weiss's interests that this is the first time in our institution’s history in which an appointment has been made in two fields so apparently distant from each other. In her work as a teacher, a researcher and a public intellectual, poles which have been apart are brought together."
