Classes for HUC and its predecessor, College
of Jewish Studies, were originally held at Wilshire Boulevard
Temple.

In 1956, the College purchased a building
on Appian Way in the Hollywood Hills. The facility had
previously been a home for asthmatic Jewish girls. Because
of the success of the program, the school quickly outgrew
the space.

In 1970, the college purchased land near
downtown Los Angeles, just north of the the University of
Southern California campus. The new building was completed
and dedicated in November of 1971. |
