In Praise of Dew

I wiped dew off my car before I started out to work this morning.

I can see the politely blank look on your faces! So what? there was dew, no big deal, not worthy of mention. Except that in a region that has been in a severe drought and is plagued this week by fires, dew means that the winds have shifted from the hot dry Santa Ana's (blowing off the desert) to the cool moist ocean breezes. This will greatly help our firefighters put out the fires that have been contained, and contain the fires that have continued to spread.

Although this is the season to pray for rain (as well we should), I'm happy to report, we have dew.
