Dr. Tamara Cohn Eskenazi (Professor of Bible, HUC-JIR/LA)

Professor J. William Whedbee, Nancy M. Lyon Professor of Biblical
History and Literature and Professor of Religious Studies at Pomona
College, where he had taught since 1966, was a distinguished bible
scholar who periodically taught at HUC-JIR/LA. He was loved and
respected by his colleagues and students, and was a treasured member
of our community as well.

Rabbi Albert H. Friedlander (C’52) Rabbi Friedlander's
distinguished career included serving as Rabbi of the Westminster
Synagogue in London and as Dean of the Leo Baeck College-Centre
for Jewish Education. Rabbi Friedlander was also a long-standing
leader within the family of the World Union.

Rabbi William Mordecai Kramer (N ’44) was a major
figure in the Los Angeles rabbinate for over 50 years. He was a
person of extraordinary talents--in scholarship, in the pulpit,
in university teaching and in the legal profession. He received
his earned DHL from HUC/Los Angeles, and many years ago directed
the College of Jewish Studies, a precursor to our Rhea Hirsch School
of Education. He was active in scholarship on Jewish life in the
West, and served as editor and frequent contributor to the Western
States Jewish History quarterly journal.
