Meet Our Team:

Rabbi Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi, Ph.D.Rabbi Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi, Ph.D., serves as the National Director of Recruitment and Admissions, President’s Scholar, and Director of the Office of Community Engagement. Rabbi Sabath leads the Department of Admissions and Recruitment, including fostering partnerships with Jewish agencies, programs and organizations. Rabbi Sabath Beit-Halachmi oversees applicants’ interviewing on the Cincinnati campus. She is the key professional working with the departments of alumni engagement, development and academic affairs. You will find her travelling extensively around North America on speaking engagements, teaching and reaching out to anyone interested in taking the next steps to exploring a meaningful career in Jewish communal life or scholarship. Rabbi Adam Allenberg, MAJERabbi Adam Allenberg, MAJE, Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions, Los Angeles, assists the department in creating and implementing new strategies for recruitment and oversees the admissions processing for Rabbinic and School of Jewish Nonprofit Management applicants interviewing on the Los Angeles campus. Rabbi Andrew GoodmanRabbi Andrew Goodman, Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions, New York, received his ordination from the rabbinical program on the New York campus in 2008. He works closely with the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, the Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Ministry, the New York School of Education, and the rabbinical candidates who visit, apply, and interview on the New York campus.  He travels and teaches on the Eastern seaboard with a specific focus in college campuses and post-college communities. Rabbi Haim Shalom, MAJERabbi Haim Shalom, MAJE, Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions, Jerusalem, is a graduate of our Israeli rabbinical and education programs and represents the National Office of Recruitment and Admissions in Israel. He is responsible for outreach to short and long term programs in Israel and runs the HUC-JIR Kesher Birthright fellowship together with our partners at the Union for Reform Judaism, as well as a fellowship for MASA participants run in cooperation with our partners at the World Union for Progressive Judaism. Rabbi Joui Hessel, RJERabbi Joui Hessel, RJE, East Coast Recruitment Associate for the Schools of Education, assists the department in creating and implementing new strategies for recruitment of Education students and oversees the admissions process for anyone interviewing for the Masters in Religious Education.
