Yvon Shore

Cantor Yvon F. Shore is the Director of Liturgical Arts and Music at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati where she engages in the training of rabbis for the Reform Movement. Cantor Shore is the founder and president of the ARZA Cantorial Council, an organization dedicated to the support of a worldwide liberal cantorate. Both in the US and abroad she maintains an active role as scholar in residence. Cantor Shore has served on the executive board of the American Conference of Cantors (ACC) since 1998. Her projects with the ACC range from the development of creative liturgies to spearheading international programs with Israeli communities. Cantor Shore also serves on the Union for Reform Judaism's Commission for Religious living. This commission focuses on providing educational materials for ritual, liturgical, and musical initiatives to URJ congregations.
In 1995 Cantor Shore received investiture from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion on the New York campus. Upon graduation she proudly served congregations Temple Beth-EL of Somerville, NJ. Temple Beth Sholom in New City, NY. and Temple Judea in Massapequa, NY.
Cantor Shore graduated from West Chester University with a triple major in music education, flute, and conducting. She has performed in numerous venues including the Kennedy Center, Yad Va Shem, and Lincoln Center. Cantor Shore's musical compositions combine elements of traditional modality with classical western theory. Her emphasis of Jewish music interest lies is the study of Eastern Sephardic communities. Cantor Shore's love of Judaism, music, education, and the Jewish people, provides the guiding foundation that affords her the honor and blessing of serving the HUC -JIR community.
