Remember how blasted hot it was on June 22, 2013? That steamy morning, a vibrant group of Cincinnati area dancers, musicians, and artists presented Global Water Dances–Cincinnati to our audience of over 500 on Serpentine Wall and 1000s in their kayaks on our beautiful Ohio River. Dripping in the 10 am, 95 degree sun, the performers pooled all their energy and resources to create an engaging, inspiring, interactive community enviro-arts event.
Revisit the day! Join us for the Premiere of our Global Water Dances-Cincinnati Film on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:30 pm at HUC-JIR/Cincinnati (3101 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45219). It will make you feel warm again!
Held in conjunction with Paddlefest/Pedalfest 2013 and Global Water Dances in 70 countries, Global Water Dances-Cincinnati is a multi-media event of unprecedented scope using the power of the arts to engage members of our region on the critical topic of sustainable water here and around the world. The event raised awareness of the increasingly critical issues of pure, clean, safe, available drinking water to ensure the sustainability of our planet Earth, her people, animals, plants, and ecosystems.
Our GWD-Cincinnati film begins with a reverential, ceremonial dance performed on the steps of Serpentine Wall, each dancer using a hand-painted silk oceanscape to share the fluidity of the waters. The film ends with an energizing COMMUNITY DANCE PARTY on the plaza of Serpentine Wall. Artistic Direction by Fanchon Shur; Music Composition by Shari Lauter.
A synopsis presentation of dances from other countries, provided by globalwaterdances.org and featuring music composed for our Cincinnati event, will be shown before our film. Join us!
