The Parashat Commentary and Sermon Online Resource Guide has information organized in two formats.  First, at the top of this document, there is a categorized short, list of Site-Titles, which are simply a title generally indicating the type information you will find at the respective site.  The second type of information is the Resource Card.  The resource card is like a “Rolodex file” — it contains the site’s web address, a description of the site, and other relevant notes.

In order to use this resource guide, simply “click” on the website title, at the top of the page, and this will bring you to the resource card below with the important information about the site.  Then there are two easy ways to open the website:  one, simply “click” on the highlighted and underlined URL (Uniform Resource Locator – the website’s address) to open the site in your default browser (assuming you are already connected to the internet).  Or, copy and paste the link into the address bar of your browser.  Please note, the site titles are links to the site-specific resource card in this document—they are NOT links to the website itself.

Here is an example of a website title and its respective resource card:

The Organization and Affiliation field uses the following key:

  • The site will be labeled as Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, or Reconstructionist if the site itself claims to be a member of these movements or their official organizations.
  • Quite a number of the sites are not affiliated with any major movements or organizations. These sites are labeled as independent. In order to help you further, some sites are also labeled either as traditional—these sites tend towards orthodoxy (lower case “o”) or traditional Judaism, or as liberal—these sites tend towards liberal Judaism.
