Course Objectives


primary:      close reading of Philo, Quod deterius potiori insidiari
              soleat

secondary:    general introduction to Philo, with special reference to 
              biblical interpretation and the general problems raised by
              the Quod deterius



Course requirements

 1.  participation

 2.  exam (on Greek text only)

 3.  Survey essay on an "introductory" aspect of Philo, not to exceed
     10 pages, on a subject to be determined in consultation with me.
