Welcome to the School of Education Alumni Association!

The mission of the School of Education Alumni Association (SOEAA) is to create a community among the graduates of the SOE that addresses the ongoing needs of alumni, the SOE, and HUC-JIR. We are committed to building and developing leaders to serve and support our colleagues and friends who work in Jewish organizations around the world.

The SOEAA focuses its efforts on the pillars of kehillah (building community), kavod (honoring our alumni), limud (providing opportunities for study and professional learning), t’micha (providing financial support to the College-Institute), and l’dor vador (engaging the next generation). To achieve these goals, we communicate regularly with the HUC-JIR community and collaborate with the SOE and its faculty, HUC-JIR administration, and the Alumni Leadership Council.

We invite you to learn more about the work we do, stay connected, and get involved as we support our alumni, the SOE, and HUC-JIR.

Working Groups

As the SOEAA’s priorities continue to evolve with HUC-JIR’s strategic initiatives, we assemble working groups – alumni volunteers who are dedicated to advancing key priorities through the Alumni Association – based on our mission pillars:

  • Kehillah (Building Community): Offering networking and an infrastructure of collegiality, connecting SOE alumni to one another, and keeping them apprised of what is going on in the lives of our alumni and at HUC-JIR;
  • Kavod (Honoring Our Alumni): Promoting the achievements, reputation, and stature of the SOE and its alumni within the alumni community, the HUC-JIR community, the Reform Movement, the field of Jewish education, and the larger Jewish community and the general public.
  • Limud (Providing Opportunities for Study and Professional Learning): Continuing education and professional learning focused on the unique needs of SOE alumni; building on the foundation of our HUC-JIR education; providing opportunities for alumni to learn from SOE faculty, HUC-JIR faculty, and fellow SOE alumni.
  • T’micha (Financial Support): Generating funds for SOE needs, in particular, and for HUC-JIR generally.
  • L’dor Vador (Cultivating the Next Generation): Identifying and inspiring individuals to enter the field of Jewish education and to seek graduate degrees at the SOE; building active connections with current students to engage them with the alumni community.
