opportunities
- New York Area
- New York Kollel
- New York Kollel was created at HUC-JIR to serve the large number
of Jews, from all walks of life, seeking to express and explore
their religious and spiritual identities. The Kollel emphasizes the
intensive study of Jewish texts, beliefs and practices. Traditional
modes of study are used, such as hevruta (study partnership) and the
Beit Midrash (study community), as well as contemporary approaches
which include historical, literary, theological and feminist
perspectives.
- Jerusalem
- Beit Midrash/A Liberal
Yeshivah
- Co-sponsored by the World Union of Progressive Judaism (WUPJ)
and based at the Beit Shmuel/HUC-JIR Jerusalem Learning Center. A
unique year-long program for recent college graduates from around
the world, it offers classes in English, combining traditional Torah
Study with a liberal, egalitarian spirit and using the hevruta, or
study partner, method to allow students to learn, explore, and pray
together.
Please see their respective pages for more in-depth
