Rabbi Stacia Deutsch, Director of AJLL

Rabbi Deutsch was ordained in 1995 from the Cincinnati Learning Center of
the HUC-JIR. After two years in a congregation, Rabbi Deutsch returned to
the College as part of the administrative staff. For four years she directed
kallot and programming for HUC, the UAHC and CCAR through the Cincinnati
campus before "transfering" to Los Angeles. As the Director of Adult Jewish
Learning and Living, Rabbi Deutsch coordinates adult Jewish learning
opportunities for individuals looking to study with the college faculty in a
meaningful way.

Rabbi Ruth Gais, Director of New York Kollel,
a Center for Adult Jewish Study, and Community Outreach

Rabbi Ruth Gais is Director of New York Kollel: A Center for Adult Jewish Study. She was ordained in 2000 from HUC-JIR/NY. She has a BA from Bryn Mawr College in Greek and Latin and a Ph.D. from Princeton University in Classical Archaeology. For many years she taught about the Classical world at a variety of institutions and has served congregatioins in Orlando and St. Augustine, Florida.

Judith Schwartzman received her B.A. from Barnard College. She worked previously at the Jewish Museum,
Congregation Ansche Chesed, and the West End Synagogue.
Madelyn Mishkin Katz, Los Angeles Outreach Director

Madelyn Mishkin Katz is a graduate of the Hebrew Union College - Jewish
Institute of Religion Rhea Hirsch School of Education. As a Jewish
educator she has worked both in synagogues as well as day schools and was
the founding director of two Reform Jewish day schools in the Los Angeles
area. Currently she serves as the Director of Student Services and External
Programming at the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles.
Rabbi Naamah Kelman, Coordinator, Beit Midrash/A Liberal Yeshivah
Rabbi Kelman is the first woman rabbi to
be ordained in the State of Israel. She has played a central role in
several important educational projects of the Israeli Movement for
Progressive Judaism and has worked with a variety of age groups. Prior to
coming to Beit Midrash/A Liberal Yeshivah she was Coordinator of the
Florence Melton Adult Mini-School of the Hebrew University. She obtained
her M.A. from the Institute of Contemporary Jewry. Rabbi Kelman also
teaches at the Beit Midrash.

Betsy Miller Landis, Director North American Office, served as the Acting
Director of
Development for CLAL - The National Jewish Center for Learning and
Leadership, and as
the Director of Special Projects. As a volunteer, Ms. Landis was President
of Hillel of New
York (formerly BBH/Jewish Association for College Youth) - the umbrella
Jewish college
services agency in New York - and was Chair of the New York UJA/Federation
Project
Otzma Committee and a member of the North American Otzma Management
Committee.
